at arm's length

I've gotten really good at taking pictures (that include me in the composition) with an outstretched arm. Apparently, I have just the right amount of arm length to get a decent shot. I took the three photos below on Saturday. Each shot was only taken once. After the snap of the shutter I checked out my handy work on the LCD screen and was happy with that one frame. No repeats necessary. Who needs a tripod/cable release/self-timer anyway?

I always LOVE self shots. One of the best shots of my husband and me is one that I took at arm's length.

You're right you are really good at those shots! I try that and I always seem to be missing some part of my head.

Great shots!

I usually avoid all photos, so there are never any photos of me. Maybe I should give this a try. Great photos.

Great job...I can't ever do that---half of a head is as good as I get!

Those are great! I really like taking pictures that way, but I need to get a wider angle lens - my arms just aren't long enough for 50mm to work!

I tend to tilt my chin up too much when I take a pic like that... then all you get is nostril - hehe...
you do a great job, though. Those are terrific pics! and on the first shot, too.

mia's momma—Looking through my iPhoto library today I noticed a lot of these shots. They tend to be the favorite ones of myself.

killashandra—The key is learning what your shutter actually sees.

jen—Your profile pic is lovely. Why avoid photos?

andi—That last one is my favorite. I love the way we're both looking away from the lens and in different directions.

jaimee—Half a head is better than none at all!

christina—Too funny!

kim—We have a lot of pictures of my husband's nostrils. Unfortunately he took them on purpose. I could do a whole series on the finer points of his nose hairs.

I dare you.....

These are great! I should take some lessons from you on self shots...I think my arms are a bit to short to get them to turn out very well...

Wow! Mine never turn out like that. Usually it's all nose and maybe one eye:)
