27 8-by-10 color glossy pictures with the circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each one was...

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I'm particularly excited about it this year. We are hosting a very tiny lunch with just my Grandmother as a guest. After that the four of us are heading over to my other Grandparent's house to visit my Mom & Stepdad's family—there will be LOTS of people there. In the evening we are getting together with JQ's side for pie. A nice laid back day. But that's not the part I'm most excited about.

I'm super stoked about getting to share our family traditions with Gideon. Every Thanksgiving two things happen in our family—The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and Alice's Restaurant. Without exception. The parade doesn't have to be watched in it's entirety, but it must be on and we must be available for the last few minutes. That's when Santa comes. It's been a tradition with my Mother my entire life to get all geeked up about Santa's arrival. Every year—even as an adult—I make a small ass out of myself at 11:59 am EST. It's tradition. And now I can share that with our child. At noon we listen to Alice's Restaurant by Arlo Guthrie. It's tradition. For both sides. My Mom, Stepdad, and brother listen every year. JQ's parents listen every year. We always have. I can't wait!

Alice's Restaurant? Wasn't that the TV show with that "kiss my grits" lady and the fat cook?

shades—Exactly!

mel—The parade is all about seeing Santa for me. It's one of those things...

nobody—That was Alice. The "kiss my grits" lady is Flo. She and Alice worked at Mel's Diner. It had nothing to do with Alice's Restaurant
