I received a gift certificate to a spa from Gideon and Josh for Mother's Day and I plan on getting a massage with it very soon. I've only had one other professional massage in my life and that was the day before Josh and I got married—almost five years ago. I'm excited to get it done, but I'm at a loss as how to answer what I imagine will be an inevitable question on the part of the spa, "Would you like a male or female masseuse?".
Which would you prefer? Why?
Oh, and it's not a happy ending spa.

Depends how you like to be massaged... this sounds so sexual, but do you like it when they rub deep in to your muscles? If so, ask for a guy. If you like a more gentle massage, ask for a woman. I prefer a man only b/c I love the deep tissue massages, and they have big hands and can massage stronger than most women.

I agree with Kym. The better massages I've gotten over the years have been from men. (There's really no way to keep this from sounding sexual, is there?)
However, because I can be stupid a lot of the time, I often hear myself asking for a woman because it feels a little pervy asking for a man. And then the women only give about 80%. At least the men lay it on hard and deep--

Men give deeper massages... so like the others have said - it depends what you want.
I'd rather have a man give me a massage - but in our town, it's all girls....and they aren't the happy ending type spas either.
I looooove getting massages. It is one of those indulgences that I can not live without. The last time I got one was right before I had Chase, and I am already jonesing for another one, stat. Anyway, to answer your question, I think it depends on the type of massage you are getting. If you are getting a deep tissue massage like a swedish massage and you really want your kinks worked out, go for a man. If you were, on the other hand, getting something like a hot stone massage or a pregnancy massage (which you're not, but hear me out), I think a woman is usually better b/c those are more delicate. Either way, enjoy it immensely!

Anyway, I do agree with what Kym said. However, me personally would get a woman because I am so insecure about my body. So sad, but that is true for me.
Oh I love massages! I try to get them at least once a month. For me it depends on how deep a massage I need. Sometimes I need some really deep tissue work done and a lot of female massuses can not work my muscles out well enough. So if I am feeling espceially tight I try to get a guy because they can go deeper. And I don't mean that in a dirty way.
:-) I meant to add 'I prefer my husband's massages over any others'! hahaha, actually, he really does give great massages, and the best part is they are free and I don't need an appointment!

I've never had a massage. If I did, though, I'd want a burly Sweedish woman who almost looks like a man to do it. Big forearms would be a job requirement. Like George Costanza, I don't know if I could enjoy a massage from a dude. "What if I like it? Does that make me gay?" ;)
I have no preference.
I've worked with both.
