shit

shit.shit.shit

I accidentally recorded over the master tape (and only copy) of the footage we shot when we moved into our house last year. The house was a wreck when we bought it and I shot about 15 minutes of what it looked like when we first took possession, what it looked like after 12 solid days of work, and what it looked like when we first moved in (which was a huge mess from all the boxes). I'm so bummed out about it. My only saving grace is that I have some photographs of what it looked like when we first started cleaning it up (at the very, very early stages).

OH I hate it when stuff like that happens. At least you have some photos.

We have lost lots of pictures that were on the computer. Our old computer was crap, and one time we were trying to back-up pics to a CD. We tested a few and they worked, so we tried to move a batch of them and never did figure out where they went. They weren't on the CD and we couldn't find them anywhere on the computer. We lost a few more when the computer finally bit the dust.

Now I try to store them out on the net in addition to CDs, just in case.

Oh no! How did that happen?

Well, at least you still have the pictures, although I know you are probably thinking they are not the same thing. I am so sorry!

Shit, shit, shit.. is right.

That is really crappy news. So sorry to hear that. Well, since I am a "glass half full" type of person all I can say is I guess it is good you at least have the pictures. I know that doesn't help but it is something. :(

When I was about 12 years old my friends an I made a movie called Angry Fish. It was about a starfish who got angry and started killing people. It was Oscar-worthy. My little brother taped Beavis and Butthead over it. Devastating.

fantastagirl—That's the good part.

Blogarita—I lost about a year and a half worth of digital photos a few years ago when some asshat at Apple's helpline told me I had to wipe out my harddrive to remove a stuck CD. Found out later that wasn't the case at all. Dick.

VP—My own stupidity. I thought the tape in the camera had something else on it. I just didn't check back far enough when rewinding it to see what it was. Pregnancy makes you stupid.

NayNay—Actually, that's the only thing that does help. Otherwise I'd be really bummed out.

Tim—That sounds like an awesome flick. I bet it would have gotten four stars.

Oh no...

Wait, isn't there some CSI- type way of sorting through the layers of things taped over other things on tape...? if you wanted to find somebody who could do that...and pay for it...

Well... I win: I taped a soccer match over our wedding tape... A mere month after our wedding...

Hey! It was the European Championship and The Ex called me from work asking me to tape it seconds before the match started...

I guess I should have know then it wasn't meant to last... LOL

TF—Yep

Jen—We thought of that but is it really worth what it would probably cost? Doubtful.

Dutchy—At least you had wedding video for a month. ;)

I have done stuff like that before. I inherited my sister's video camera and I had to lock the tape because it has a whole big conversation between her and my mom.
