harvest

I just spent the last hour outside in the garden—weeding (which needed it badly) and picking the fruits (well vegetables) of our labor. Here's the bounty that I picked during that time.

While the cucumbers may look a bit sad, the green peppers, jalepenos, and cherry tomatoes look divine. I see stuffed peppers and a mozzarella and tomato salad in our near future. I think I'll also give pickling the jalepenos a shot so they don't go to waste.

What is your trick with the bell peppers? Ours have always been puny and like one and a half to a plant. I gave up a long time ago.
MMMM, I see salsa in a basket!

Those look wonderful. I'm envious of your green peppers.

Our six tomato plants have yielded 35 lbs so far, and there looks like about 5-10 more lbs. before they are completely done. We had all the jalapenos we could dream of using, but our green peppers didn't do a thing. Not even one little pepper.

Except for the tomatoes we sliced for eating plain, the rest were (or will be) made into salsa!

We just have a very modest garden since we live in the city. One plant each of green peppers, red peppers, cherry tomatoes, and big boy variety tomatoes, 4 small jalepeno plants and 4 cucumber plants. All in a 7 by 10 foot area. That's it.

Mad Ethel—Our pepper only produced one fruit at first, but once we picked it, the plant went wild. I think it was focusing all it's energy on the one and once that was gone it sort of regrouped.

fantastagirl, mel, and melissa—Homegrown tomatoes are the best!

Dutchy—I don't think they would ship well. Or it would cost you a fortune for my fabulous recipes. ;)

Fab & Blogarita—Thanks!

They are so bright and colorful and look really yummy! I'm jealous because I have a black thumb. If I look at a plant it dies.
