the end is near...

Today is my last day of work until the end of August. It's not even a difficult day. All my grades are done and handed in (with a couple of F's on the list). This is a great feat for me since I'm usually finishing up grading the day they are due—which incidentally is today. So, all I have to do today is head in around 2 p.m. to discuss the experiences at the school of our recent graduates in our program. It shouldn't take more than a couple of hours. That's it.

Go check out my new renter. It's Dawn (aka Webmiztris) from Tiny Voices in My Head. She funny and has a great looking template. Pop in and tell her I sent ya. Don't believe me? Here's a little sampling of a post she wrote the other day.

Need a refresher on how stupid people are?

You know that new movie, John Tucker Must Die? In the previews, instead of them telling us to go to a regular website like JohnTuckerMustDie.com for more details, it says to go to MySpace.com/JohnTucker

Gawd, MySpace is getting out of hand. There's already 90% phonies on there and now even MOVIE CHARACTERS have their own pages.)

Anywho, "John Tucker" has like 66,800 friends on MySpace. And most of these girls? I don't think they even realize John Tucker ISN'T REAL. Just read some of the comments. They're saying stuff like, "OMG, you're so hot...hit me back with a comment, baby." OMG, indeed. I can only imagine how lame someone's life must be to be logging on to MySpace to leave comments for fictional characters. The desperation is so thick I could cut it with a knife.

Now, you all know how I feel about MySpace so this post is especially funny to me. And the great thing about Dawn? All her posts have a touch of snarky in them. Go see...

I was bored, so I went looking to see if any of the kids I used to babysit or my teenage cousins had pages-

I now know things I never wanted to know. And the weird thing is that some of them actually post some rather intellectual things that I wasn't aware they were smart enough to compose...on top of all the stuff I didn't want to know...

Ick.

The kid I babysat is doing good, though. Man did I raise her right! She's 2 years into a nursing degree- good for her! Nothing weird on her page!

I still refuse to join, though.

Ick.

But I've been dying to see that movie ever since I read about it last year. I like stupid teen movies. I did think the MySpace website was odd when I saw it on the movie trailer, though... what a great thing to blog about!

I saw another one! Some new hip-hop dance movie with a bunch of unfamilliar actors called Step Up, or something like that. Saw the trailer this afternoon, and wouldn'tcha know...they had a MySpace address at the end...

I totally agree with Dawn, even though they have been using MySpace as a promotional tool for a while.

I have a page there, but it has cobwebs. I mostly wanted to promote non-smoking related lung cancer. I guess it will come in handy when the nephew starts using the net.
