It's a mad, mad world that we live in—especially on the Web.

Apparantly this guy here—Kieran—has holed up in some house for the next six months and has turned his life over to all the charming internet surfers out there. You get to vote on what he does, what he wears, who he dates, and all that jazz. Of course he has a blog as well. The project is called Our Prisoner and launches in just over an hour as I'm composing this. Very Big Brother and Truman Show-esque.

One of my students was talking about YouTube last night and a clip of an old David Letterman show from 1987. It features Crispin Glover—the dad from Back to the future—who is allegedly on acid. Whether that's the case or not, who knows, but check out those shoes he's sporting. Very lady-like.

If you haven't seen this yet, check it out. It's a really cool experiment involving lots of Diet Coke and Mentos. I saw it a couple of weeks ago and then it popped up this morning on Good Morning America. That's the second thing on GMA that I had already seen on the fancy internets. Man am I special.

Enjoy!

Ah, the "kick". I remember that episode well and watched it that night live. Glover is a lunatic, and hence probably the perfect guy to play Willard in the remake of the boy-meets-rat movie.

What's strange is he seemed so normal in BTTF.

Thanks for finding this - now I can relive that TV moment over and over and marvel at the expression on the face of Dave "Good God, get this guy away from me" Letterman...

At first he seemed like he was just trying to look weird, but yeah, he's weird.

I LOVE David Letterman, and I LOVE you for putting this clip up.

Some serious science there. It has made certain I shall never ever drink coke or eat mentos again...

Barry—I do what I can.

Melissa—"you bet they smelt goooood"? I hope that's sarcasm.

Jen—Which one?

Tim—But what about the shoes?

Conti—What's not to love?

the boy—You shouldn't eat Mentos regardless of scientific experiments.

I was thinking how girly his hair looked. After that Letterman bit, no wonder they got a different dad for BTTF two and three.

Lynda said...

Oh, and why is his hair two different lengths?

Holly {ArtistMotherTeacher} said...

Lynda—I'm pretty sure that's a wig.

Mentos and Diet Coke does have a name. It is called "Mr. Wizard". And when one attemptsd to drink it is a "Mr. Wizard-Stand".

Anyway just popped over to check out your site and say "hi". Lots of laughs. ;-)

I remember that Letterman episode when it first aired in 1987. It was difficult to know whether to laugh or be really disturbed. Now it's just hilarious. Anyone want to google Crispin Glover to find out if he's still around?

Crispin Glover is God!Unfortunately he was in all the BTTF movies. Recently he was in the Charlie´s Angels movies which wasn't actually too bad. Crispin is a really dedicated actor and really doesn't need any acid.

I don't remember that clip because I was like 7 when it aired and my bedtime had me sleeping before Letterman aired. It was funny, however. I would guess that he's on coke, not acid. Also, I heard about the Mentos thing on NPR about 6 months ago. It's cool.

And, even though I'm not on your blogroll, I'm fresh and clean today, too.

Oy, Crispin Glover creeps me the freak out. Yikes.

Even more scary is that I remember that episode. Or I've seen a clip of it before.

Yeah, I thought his hair looked unnatural. I looked up the episode later and they said it was a wig.
