Six small peeks into my portfolio—or—this was going to be my Thursday 13 but I got lazy so now seis son el número mágico.

Below are six pieces of work I've done over the last couple of years. I would love to hear your thoughts and comments. Please be gentle—I bruise easy.

  1. A card I made for two of our friends who were trying to quit smoking. I gave this to them about two and a half weeks after they quit. As you can see, the Latin translates to "Don't let the bastards grind you down." Get it? Unfortunately, they did let the bastards grind them down, and started smoking again 6 months later.

  2. Bride and Groom, illustration. An icon of Josh and I from our wedding. I'm thinking of putting it on a spaghetti strap white tank.

  3. The creature behind the door, Illustration.

  4. I called it Kaleidoflor at one point, but now I'm thinking Fabrege Tulips, Color Photograph.

  5. Untitled from The Letter Series. Part of a series of over 50 studies of the ornamental qualities of letterforms. Each piece is constructed entirely out of type without altering the structural quality of the letterforms.*

  6. Untitled from The Letter Series. *see above for conceptual note.

I agree with anon.

Is the creature behind the door an owl?

Tim—I never really thought about what he'd look like if I opened the door. Not an owl perse, more like this little fuzzy thing that could chew off your leg if you got too close.

like a gremlin?

More like Ferbie. Or Fergie for that matter.

I like the name kaleidafleur.

Gremlin/Ferbie...sure, a bit...more like something I saw once in a dream. Less than a foot tall, little hands with sharp claws, you'd think he was cute until he opened his mouth to reveal an ass-ton of sharp, pointy teeth.

Beautiful.

ass-ton?

tp—Thanks. You really know how to make a girl feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

tim— Ass-ton = many (example: I wish I had an ass-ton of money to pay off all this debt from my good for nothin' college education.) Come 'on you're a smart guy.

Well, I don't understand all of it but I like it. I totally get the fabergee tulips- I've been tulip-educated, recently, remember?

I think the creature behind the door is some relation to Stitch. It was the description of the teeth that gave it away.

Like the tank top idea, too.

I really like them all. I think it's cool that they're all completely different. I agree with MadEthel aswel, I like the name kaleideflor.
