I got this email from the Daily Candy this morning and immediately thought of Jen and her earworms. Looks like you can now take the idea of the incessant earworm and put it to good use. Below is the content of the email as well as a link to the Earworm Musical Brain Trainers site. Italian anyone?
Just Can’t Get You out of My Head
Q. What do the following lyrics have in common?
a) I would walk 500 miles.
b) Who let the dogs out?
c) You oughtta know.
A. There’s a really good chance they are now going to be stuck in your head all day. (Sorry.)
But you can use Earworms to get them out — and learn quelque chose while you’re at it.
Like a catchy tune that you just can’t shake, Earworms Musical Brain Trainers layer basic foreign words and phrases over pleasant instrumental tracks. After listening to the songs a few times, you’ll find that you’ve picked up some useful lingo.
Download 75-minute lessons in German, Greek, Italian, Spanish, and French. (Chinese is offered only on CD.) Portuguese, Arabic, Japanese, and Russian are coming soon. By July, volume two of all of the languages will be released.
It’s the learning system that never ends.
It just goes on and on, my friends.

Fascinating. But what you have just stuck in my head is that goddamn Kylie Minogue song- I hate that more than anything else in the world. "Who Let the Dogs Out" is mild by comparion and I welcome it. "500 Miles" is something I have never liked, so I've never listened to it in full- I think when I started changing the station at the advent of that song, I trained my brain to turn it off when it tries to start playing in my head as well...and right now, I can't place any "you oughta know" ...oh wait- here it comes. Yeah, there it is. God I hate Alanis. Good thing I "wasn't allowed" to listen to her- that's easy for me to dispell.
Lord- I thought I'd escaped the years of Kylie...
I just had to click on the link, when will I learn? Now, "I just can't get you out of my head", "Lalala, lala, lalala, won't you stayyyyyyy..."
See what I mean? At least we're suffering together today. I linked your post in my Earworms page. Good information to know.
