It's all in the details

I seem to go through these little periods of obsession. Right now...it's the house. I have to imagine this will be what occupies the majority of my mind for a very long time. I can't wait until Spring to get outside and work on the landscape and exterior of the house. I've always wanted a yard of my own.

For now, the inside is my paper doll. I keep giving her new "clothes" and "accessories". The other day I ventured out to Wal-Mart to buy window treatments. Man, those babies are expensive! I did some research on affordability (sp?) with regards to my vision and Wal-Mart was the clear winner. I got these beautiful white sheers and black sheer scarfs for the windows in the living room/dining room. I bought 2 black metal rods with ball finials and put up the sheers and draped the scarfs over them. WoW! It's gorgeous! It really brings the whole room together (imagine if you will—dark red walls, white trim, white sheers and black scarves). Now all I need it to hang some stuff on the walls and were set in that room. I have a room divider that has (15) 8 x 10 panels for photos on it. I'm going to find images I've shot of flowers and foliage and do black and white abstract prints for it. It will go nicely with the rest of the room—I have lots of live plants in the room and I want to accent that along with the black, white, and red color scheme.

Today I'm going to hang up some paintings I did in the kitchen. I have two painted canvases that have a very modern flair to them that will go on the back wall (blues and whites in these). I also have 3 round plates that I painted with blues and silvers (again, sort of abstract and modern) that will hang on the opposite wall above the archway that leads into the dining room. Once I get these up...the kitchen is done...for now. Then it's off to the bedroom to hang some paintings we bought while honeymooning in Jamaica. We painted the bedroom purple (like a dark grape) and are doing an "exotic" theme in there. The paintings will be perfect. I just need to find some bromeliads, a new bedspread, and some warm colored (think pinks, reds, oranges) sheers for the window.

I'm getting excited just thinking about it.

It's all in the details.

Fun, fun, fun! I loved reading all about it! I like your taste!

I can't wait until I have a yard... I have this huge century plant that I'm going to plant smack in the middle. They grow so big I've seen some taller than me! I can't wait to be able to do that and see it grow to prehistoric proportions! My husband things I'm nuts, wanting what's basically a giant, out-of-control aloe vera on steroids sitting right in the middle of the yard.

Who cares!?
