Free association—it's like free love, only not so messy

The lovely Lisa decided to play a little free association word game over at her digs and I couldn't resist playing along. Here are the words Lisa left for me along with my answers.

1) laundry hamper: This reminds me of the chute that we have in our bathroom. It's leads down to a wooden laundry cage in the basement. I hated the idea of it when we bought the house (except for the novelty of what seems like a retro home design feature) but now I use it all the time.

2) rhubarb: This reminds me of the kid that lived across the street from my Gam when I was growing up. His mom grew rhubarb every year and made pies and such from it. I don't care for it but it has been years since I've actually tasted it, so who knows?

3) Ojibwe indian tribe: This is for the matryoshka dolls one I left you, isn't it? Um…I've got it. In the second or third grade I did a report on Native Americans and had various visual aids to accompany it. I made a diorama complete with indian corn and wove a basket out of reeds. That basket kicked ass. That association just reminded me of the time I wore a foam beard and stove pipe hat while doing a first person report on Abe Lincoln…but I digress.

4) "put some stank on it": Holy crap. What kind of baloney is this? I don't know. For some reason it reminds me of Nascar.

5) lighthouse: This one is easy. JQ and I lived right next door the a restaurant and bar called The Lighthouse. It was our first apartment together and was right on the river. We could walk across the grass and have a drink on the patio of the restaurant. During the weekend summer nights we could watch all the jackasses from OUR patio leaving the bar. We also lived within walking distance of the zoo—which hosts several concerts every summer. People would park at The Lighthouse and walk to the zoo to avoid the $5 parking fee. Oh man, those were the people to watch. Concerts started around 6 or 7 and it the summer that leaves plenty of light to see the folks that are heading to the Wierd Al, Alice Cooper, Moody Blues, and Doobie Brothers concerts. They are an entertaining bunch. And when you see them stumbling back three hours later? Even better.

I did a post like this on my blog too. It's the new craze I guess. Lisa's such a trend setter. As long as she doesn't start wearing Uggs and then everyone gets them, we'll be okay. :)

I would love a laundry shoot. That does sound very retro.

Also, I saw Alice Cooper in concert in 1996 and it was a lot of fun.

Rhubarb pie is the BEST. Grandma Nobody made the best rhubarb pies, for some reason when we use her recipe the pies are great, but still as good as when grandma made them. My dad says it's because she used lard for the crust.

Ha ha, YES...I put the Ojibwe thing on there b/c of the M. dolls. You got me. Also, I love saying "Ojibwe" and just wanted an excuse to use it somewhere.

You never heard anyone say "and put some stank on it?" before? I feel like I have heard it a lot, but that might be because of leaving BET on alot in the background; I think things sink in without realizing it. Anyway, maybe it really is Nascar. I'm confused too. :) I means "and make it snappy and add some attitude to it", sort of...

I'm so glad you guys have been playing this little game. Wheee! On and Naynay? No worries. There will never be Uggs on my feet. However... I am starting my own trend of eating oatmeal. So far, I am the only one doing it, but I just *know* it's cool and hip. Because I only mildly enjoy it, but feel self-important and like I just did something "good" after I do it. Feel free to join in-- it might be all the rage someday.
(Yeah, when we are toothless and elderly, maybe... "Where's mah oatmeal? Bring it out here, and put some stank on it!")

I have got to do this, Lisa's words are sitting in my to do blog folder. :) I am so behind. Bad me.

I grew up around Lighthouses and love them. They remind me of home and the ocean, two of my very favorite things.

Naynay—JQ and I actually did see Alice Cooper at the zoo one year. We were able to score free tickets to several of the zoo's shows. The highlight of the Cooper show? The drunk obnoxious lady falling UP the stairs after trying to look all cool. We all laughed at her.

Nobody—Lard makes everything better. Still not sold on the rhubarb. However, I would be willing to try it again.

Cruel Shoes—I knew it! Can't pull a fast one on me. ;) JQ, G-tot and I all eat oatmeal. Yummy hot oatmeal with cinnamon and brown sugar. Mmmm…

Vegas Princess—Just don't tell me you are a fan of Thomas Kinkade.
