dirty cartoons

Am I the only one who finds the unintentional inappropriateness of children's cartoons to be absolutely hilarious? I mean come on, ADULTS are writing this stuff. They have to know that some of the dialog and animations are at times, not really aimed at their target market. They can't be that oblivious. Or can they?

Take this mornings episode of Clifford the Big Red Dog. I have no idea what the story line was but I glanced up from the kitchen sink to see two dogs running away from some nasty crows. The dogs got trapped under a wheelbarrow with the crows sitting on top of them. Still with me? Okay, this is where the perceived inappropriateness comes in.

Next thing I see is a gust of wind blowing the crows off the wheelbarrow. It was Clifford and he was wagging his tail to create the breeze to get rid of the crows. But in my mind? Clifford farted and he was wagging the stink at the crows. It works right? Dog farts are nasty and one from a giant dog would do the trick of clearing the room.

Maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm immature. Perhaps I'm reading into these cartoons a bit too much.

It still makes me laugh…

There actually IS a Saturday morning cartoon that features a farting dog as it's main character- and it is dreaful.

Me, I collapsed into giggles when Niece was watching Charlie and Lola one morning. The subject was their untrained dog, and the kids wanted to get rid of him, while only one child took the "he just needs some guidance" tack. I love the little British accents, and then I found out it was based on a series of childrens' books. And then I found out that on some satellite/cable carriers, you can watch it all. day. long.

I love it!

I gotta start watching these cartoons. I'd laugh at the dog fart idea, too. I am totally immature with my humor. TOTALLY. Not a smidgen of wit or maturity here.

I have to agree with shades re: Charlie and Lola. You have to love the more uninhibited British cartoons which dare to enter territory you don't often see elsewhere.

I will say, however, that I see a lot of untapped potential to make "Higglytown Heroes" an incredibly filthy show. I suppose Disney won't entertain my ideas any time soon...

Also, it's Lazytown that scares me the most. I do love me some Miss Spider and the Sunnypatch crew,though... doesn't everybuggy?

Most of todays cartoons make me cringe but I do love to pick up the adult jokes hidden within child animated movies like anything by Pixar.
