soft & sweet
I shot this picture of G-man last week and while I liked the straight-out-of-the-camera shot, the slightly enhanced image above really does it for me. The lighting in the SOOC shot was a little low but the information was there. I shot it with a low aperature and a quicker shutter speed than I needed to capture my quick moving monkey. When I was looking at the shot yesterday I upped the levels a bit in Photoshop and ended up with this shot above. The curtains are true to life, so this is much better. I love the sweet look on his face and the softness of the image. I don't even mind that totally blown out highlight framing his face. It's my Best Shot Monday image this week.

Lighting is such a tricky thing - it's certainly one of my biggest photography challenges. But I think that this came out beautifully.
Nice picture. The quickly moving monkey is so photogenic!
nte—I knew when I shot it that the shutter speed was too fast. Thankfully the info was still there when I corrected the exposure.
naynay—I dread the day when he tells me to get the camera out of his face.
I dig it. LOVE the lighting and the sweet expression on his face :)
Mia already isn't too thrilled to have my camera all up in her face.
tanya—Thanks! Your Mia looks way to young to protest the camera yet.
I do not know enough about all of your technical details, but I do know his sweet face IS soft and angelic...there is just something about chubby baby cheeks that get me every time!
andi—With that face I can't help but take tons of pictures of him. I'm running out of space on my laptop we shoot so much.
You have such a great eye! I love this picture. He looks just naturally beautiful.
vp—Thanks. That means a lot to me. Seriously.
Great shot - I love the light on his face...it looks great!
It is a very sweet shot. he is adorable.
I have been debating between your camera and the 40-D
what do you think.
i was looking at the 5D but it is to pricy for me.
maggie & golightly—Thanks ladies.
bo—I love this camera. I would highly recommend it. If you aren't going out to shoot fashion models for the cover of Vogue than I wouldn't spend any more money than what the Rebel Xsi cost.
