you spin me right round baby...

On Saturday the 22nd (the day of G-man's 1st birthday party) and Monday the 24th (his actual birthday), we took a combined total of over 200 pictures. I'll spare you the majority of them. Here's just a few from the actual party. I'll post some from his mini-party (just JQ, G-man, and I) on his birthday in another post. I think the second set has the better pictures—no hosting to do, so they seem much more intimate.

JQ and I aren't really big on commercial characters like Dora and Elmo so we went went with a more general theme. Round. The options seemed endless and I ran with the idea. I put it on the invitations I made. Sorry, you can't have my address (except for you and you) or our phone number (especially not you).

I bought a 1 inch and 2.5 inch circle punch and made confetti for the table.

As well as some streamers for the archway.

The menu was really simple: Sloppy Joes (round), chips, pretzels, & veggies with two different dips (all served in big round dishes), the fruit cups above (note the OCD with the alternating cup colors and varying picks—not by accident), cake, and beverages.

As you can see I took this round thing seriously and made cupcakes (chocolate with cream cheese frosting and butter yellow with chocolate frosting) and arranged them artfully in, what else? That's right, circles.

G-man with a present from Grandma & Grandpa W. A stacking set that just happens to be half circles that can be made into balls. This was not planned.

Some cupcake crumbs.
The one he ate on his birthday produced much messier results.

More cupcake and Daddy.

Getting the last of the frosting off his fingers.

Swinging in his new playset from Grandma G, Grampa G, Uncle A, and Gam.

Hanging out with Mommy after the party in clean clothes.

Everything turned out nice. Gideon was a really good boy and had fun. He is such a people person already. We got a few inches of snow the night before and 11 people canceled on me the day of the party. We ended up with lots of extra food as a result. Good thing Sloppy Joes freeze well.

Love the idea of everything round - you are so creative with it all! Sloppy joes are one of my top most favorite meals, and thankfully it's one meat that Kenslee enjoys too, so you can send leftovers our way :-)

kym—I don't think I've ever heard anyone call Sloppy Joes a favorite meal before. Lucky for us Gideon really liked them!

Wow you are super creative with the whole round thing, I would have never thought of even making his shirt themed.

It all looked really cute and like if he enjoyed ever pieces of that cupcake! LOL!

I love the round theme! I may use it sometime, although this year we plan to be camping on Sparky's b'day.

Pixie! What an awesome idea for a theme!

Maybe next time there's a clever theme like round you should actually let the guests in on it. I'm sure I would have thought it was really cool.

s.alley—What's not to like about sugar frosted sugar?

blogarita—I want to take G-man camping this year.

shades—Thanks! I thought it worked well.

alex—Maybe next time you can just be more observant.

kenna—I just took some fishing line and sandwich it between two circles using double sided tape. Really easy. I punched the second hole in the ones on the ends for a more finished look.

naynay—I think they make something to help with that fever. It's called "condom".

You guys are so creative. I love the "round" theme. You should go through all the shapes for themes. Pretty soon you'll have a dodeccahedron party (12 sides). Word.

Pixie, this is awesome! I love it!! Can you come out here in September and do Chase's? I hate character themes (like when we were picking out nursery bedding, for example), and this is just so creative and looks awesome. I love the invitations and the shirts and the cupcakes are adorable. Very nice!!

Oh, and of course, the G-Man is as adorable as always!

This just made my day! Thanks for sharing. Looks like you had a pretty successful party, despite 11 people cancelling (I would have come, snow or no snow. I mean cupcakes were there, so that is a no brainer.) I loved your theme. I will have to remember that one if I ever need to throw a party because there is so much you can do with it.

My sister didn't want themes for my nephew either. But he decided on his own that he likes Elmo. lol.
