Tonight, JQ and I took our old, out-of-commission iMac completely apart. It was fun. All that remains are a handful of screws, a microphone, and two speakers. A special edition snow colored iMac DV circa 2000 reduced to parts.

My hubby and I did this when we got rid of our old computer and it was sad to see something that we used all the time reduced to bits and pieces.
Why are we compelled to do this?
I am not sure. Perhaps the sense of accomplishment when we have destroyed something so powerful and otherworldly and brought it down to our basic caveman level.
YES! I am so happy to hear this about the iMac. It will work much better now.
I sold my imac, I think I only got $10 for it. It was an imac G3 slot loader. I think 400mhz. My kids really like their new Windows PC.
I really do enjoy taking apart stuff. I always think I'll find parts I can use, in the case of computers that is sometimes true, but mostly I just fill boxes with worthless junk.
Are there photos of this? I want to take my iBook apart that crashed last year. Rumor has it the fan can be fixed using two Ikea tealights.

egan—No pictures. We tore it up in the basement and I was too lazy to go upstairs and find the camera.
