bird watching

Can anybody tell me what kind of bird this is? I saw both the male (seen here) and the female in our burning bush today. I remember seeing them last year—they like that awning that hangs outside the kitchen window just above the bush. They are these dainty little birds and the red on the male is just beautiful. Several species of birds have been all over our feeders these last few days. A sure sign Spring is on the way—regardless of the 1–6 inches of snow in the forecast tomorrow.

EDIT: I think I've figured it out. I believe it's a house finch. Do you agree?

I was going to say it's a house finch, then I saw your edit.

Cool little birds, I get them at work under the carport a lot.

Unfortunately, I also find a lot of dead one's there. They tend to crash during migration season. I guess it's a well documented occurrence at that location. I once picked up over 200 dead birds in one day :(

If it's a burning bush, then it can only be a phoenix.

I know nothing about birds. My husband always makes fun of me because I think sparrows are chickadees. Plus I am scared to death of birds so I try not to look at them too closely. but if I were going to guess I would say a finch.
