back to school

So much for getting today's post done this morning.

I'm half-way through my first day of work this quarter. The first class went well although I already had 2 students miss class. How can you not show up for the first day of class? It's not a blow-off class on my watch. Now they'll be behind and doubtfully will ever catch up. A piece of advice to all of you—when taking a class in which you learn a new software application, show up on the first day! Do you know how many fundamental things you are going to miss out on if you don't? Essentially the first 7 chapters of the book. Yeah, that book, the one you probably won't open the rest of the quarter.

I'm in between classes right now and of course there are a dozen other things I should be doing. Instead I'm blogging. It's my break and I'll blog if I want to, blog if I want to, blog if I want to. You would blog too if...*

*...it happened to you doesn't feel right. Fill in the blank for me would ya?

Looking for a better post? You won't find it here. Check out this one instead.

Ugh. Students. They aren't the brightest. Especially the yet-to-acquire-any-college-experience ones.

I am so proud of you for not being one of those profs that just spends 15 minutes reading through the syllabus on the first day and then dismissing the class! I always hated those days! WTF was I supposed to do for another HOUR until my next one started?

All. day. long.

What gets me about kids skipping class is someone PAID for them to be there! I did skip some classes in college I am sure (its all a vauge memory) but not often and certainly not the first day!

You would cry too if it...

lodged itself in your ass...or...

was mildly entertaining...or...

your asshat students didn't show up.

I clicked on that link but that blog wasn't any better than this one.

*you would cry to if you had to go to school.

That's the best I can think of. I don't know why anyone wouldn't show up the first day, unless they planned to drop the class.

shades—It never fails. I have at least one like that every quarter.

mel—That's what I don't understand, somebody is paying for your education. Don't waste this opportunity. Especially if it's a required class in your major.

jq—It may not be any better, but it's at least half as good.

lynda—I like it.
