things I never thought I'd say

Actual conversation I had today:

Josh: Hello?
Me: (excitedly) We had poops!
J: What?
M: (still excitedly) Poops! Gideon pooped.
J: (happily) Good!
J: (quizically) Was it a big one?

There is more, but I'll spare you the details of the actual diaper. Looks like peas make the baby a bit constipated. That's the first one since Friday morning.

I am literally riveted that some kid I don't know pooped. Is this wrong?

wait until you have to give him prune juice b/c it's been 5 or 6 days with no poops :-) then you'll REALLY be excited to see him go!

Really? Peas? It's actually recommended to feed "shelled" peas to bettas, gouramis, and other fish who are prone to bloat and constipation because it supposedly gets things moving again. Now I don't know what to believe in anymore!!

Gave your niece prunes once b/c she was constipated. A whole jar of prunes (albeit a little jar).

My daughter's 2, and recently potty trained, but she still doesn't really like pooping on the toilet. When she does, I give her a big two-handed high-five and a piece of candy. My wife says that she's going to be 12, at school, and come out of the bathroom high-fiveing everyone and looking for a hershey's kiss.

PS: Kids shouldn't eat jars. That will probably constipate them more.

This reminds me of every baby shower I ever went to as a kid that the hostess insisted upon showing that Bill Cosby parenting video. You know the one, the one where he's imitating people passing around a diaper full of poo-poo, cooing about how cute the little poo-poo is, and then how the conversation changes to one of disgust and annoyance as the kid and it's poo-poo get bigger...

Glad Gideon's unplugged, though. :)
