17 lbs

At six months old, Gideon doesn't yet weigh this much. Close, but not quite. Almost 10 days ago, a Siberian woman gave birth to her 12th child. She weighed 17.1 pounds. Yes, it was a caesarean birth. Could you imagine it any other way?

Check out the whole story here.

Yeah, but those Siberian women are a hardly lot. Not like you delicate American hothouse flowers...

That's one big baby. What's wrong with their belly buttons? They look all bruised.

fantastagirl—Can you imagine? What size do you think that baby wears?

mr. fab—A "hardly" lot?

naynay—Doesn't it make you want to run out and procreate?

tf—I think it's iodine.

Oh. I just don't remember my daughter having that, but I was delirious and drunk with joy.

I read this earlier today and my uterus is still aching from the thought. This is one of the (many) reasons I am not yet really to have a child because I would be lucky enough to have an ironically huge baby like this...just as a joke on my and my highly limited pain threshold.

She must have been HUGE!

Pixie - I don't know - because Tink was almost 11 months old before she was 17 pounds.
