I'd blog but...

...I'd rather hold my baby.

Can you blame me?
Talk amongst yourselves. Or better yet, ask me a question.

Did your poor son see the pictures of the clowns on my blog? That is the SAME face I made when I saw them. :) Nah, he is a cutie. I am only joshin' ya.

My question is: Is there anything that grosses you out about babies (throw up, poop, etc) or is it true that when it is your own, it is different?

What's he smiling at?

Or is that a smile at all?

How do you ever get any work done?

I'm sure you would! I can see why! He's adorable! And you have missed him all week I know!

Doesn't he nap? Can't you blog then?

Haha! Just jossing you a bit! He is really cute. I don't blame you a bit!

Naynay—It really is true that it's just different when it's your own kid. There hasn't been a fluid or goopy thing yet that has grossed me out to a maximum point. Even when he spit up on my face, I just wiped it off, said "Gross, Gideon" and when on with my day. Yep, that's love.

Blogarita—He's smiling at me of course. He smiles all the time now. We are really enjoying it.

Jen—I do miss him when I'm at work. Thanks, we think he's pretty fantastic.

Lynda—They say you should nap when the baby naps. I say yeah right, when am I supposed to get everything else done? Although we did nap together earlier—him on my chest, me on the couch, windows open and a nice warm breeze in our 90° weather.

He is such a handsome little devil. I wouldn't blame you if you kicked the blog to the curb in favor of doing nothing but cuddling him -- but I hope for our sake you don't!

Here's my question: Did you take a childbirth preparedness class? I don't mean the one where they show you the videos of the lady with the hair crotch, I mean the class where they show you how to bathe the baby, etc. I signed up for both and Andrew thinks it's overkill, but I have no idea what to do with a newborn and I figure the more prepared, the better. I also signed up for a breastfeeding class. $200 later.

Christina—We did take a childbirth class called "Birth, Babies, and Beyond". Not only did it take you through labor and delivery (hairy crotches and all), it also covered postpartum care for you and the baby as well as breastfeeding. A lot of it was common sense (especially if you're like me and read obsessively) but we did get a lot of good info out of it. Not $200 for us, but $75.

I don't blame you; I blame George Bush and OPEC.

What a cutie - and he is growing so fast!

My question: is he sleeping through the night?

I can't blame you one damn bit!

My question is, how soon before I can babysit?

Thanks for answering my question! I figured as much that you don't get grossed out at your own kid. That is good to know for my future. Speaking of, I have another question for you:

When and if I do get pregnant, what if I don't want to watch the hairy crotches video; will I get a discounted rate?

Holly {ArtistMotherTeacher} said...

TF—Seems logical.

Fantastagirl—Not yet, lately he's been eating between 8:00 and 10:00 and then sleeping until 2:30. After that he sleeps until around 6:00.

Mr. Fab—I guess when we make our next trip down to Florida.

Naynay—When (or if) you do get pregnant—which you totally should now that you're a married woman—maybe they'll have new videos without so much hair.

He is so cute I could just eat him up! My question is what is the biggest thing that has changed for you once you became a mother?

Holly {ArtistMotherTeacher} said...

VP—The biggest thing? My entire sense of being. I'm softer yet stronger and feel so much more complete.

On the small scale:
My eating habits (when I get a chance)
My driving habits (probably a bit safer on the turns & what not)
My sleeping habits
My reading habits (I read a lot of children's books these days.

It goes on and on...

Nope, no blaming at all...

Now hand him over so we can hold the cuty for a minute as well!

I'm so late here...lol My question for ya is.. So far, what is the ONE BIGGEST thing that you guys purchased before he was born that you don't know what you would do without it?
And man oh man is your little boy handsome!! What a cutie!!

Holly {ArtistMotherTeacher} said...

Bents—I would have to say the infant carrier carseat and the stroller. We didn't buy them as a travel system, but the carrier snaps into the stroller and makes walks fantastic. I love that he is so close to me and facing us. I'll miss that when he grows out of the carrier.
