holy crap

It's been thirty days. Thirty amazing days. To say my life has changed since March 23rd is a gross understatement. Everything I knew my life to be has now been altered in some abstract and much greater way. I feel like I've entered an entirely new species of mankind. I am now a parent. A mother.

It's the hardest and most extraordinary thing I've ever done.

It's all consuming and right now looks something like this: change diaper, feed, hold, play, pump, sleep—repeat... Somewhere in there I try to find a little me time. Time to do things like shower and eat. Times like right now.

I get up at least 3 times between the hours of 12 pm & 7 am. I applaud things like getting 2.5 consecutive hours of sleep at night. It's hard to imagine that this will change and someday he will sleep through the night—but it will. I can already see it happening. Every day is something new.

Tomorrow he will be one month old. It doesn't seem possible.

His hair is so red looking to me, in all the pictures. I can't imagine not getting consecutive sleep. LOL

He is just so cute - and that's what makes it worth it! (it does get better, he'll start sleeping for 4 hours in a row - and you just won't know what to do with so much sleep!)

I totally understand this phenomenon! Don't worry. Soon you will be getting up only twice then only once. My daughter is six and she usually sleeps until about 8:00 a.m.. I am up before she is!

Our daughter was at a friend's house to spend the night the other night and he looked at me and said, "Jeez, what did we ever do with all our time before we had her?" I truly can't remember. And I don't care because I have loved every minute of it. Even the hard times. I wish the very best and the very same for you!

Um, that would be "my husband looked at me and said, . . .:" as opposed to a goblin or a troll or something!

He is an angel. Sooo adorable. That belly looks perfect for raspberry-blowing! :)

And I can't believe it's been a month already, either. It seems like it wasn't that long ago that you were posting the belly photos!

I really can't believe it's been a month already.

Like Leezer said, the waking up will become less and less until he's sleeping mostly through the night. On good nights we're getting 10-11 straight hours now. Bad nights are still not as bad as the every 2.5 you're at now.

Oh wow Pixie! Your kid is great! I'm sorry that I haven't been around to congratulate but things have been a bit hectic in the HYpersonic household lately. What a cutie. Isn't it great being a parent?

The lack of sleep was hardest thing for me - but NOW my daughter is 6 1/2 already!! Sister, it flies by so fast, enjoy every day of it (and I know you will).

Much love,

Thanks for shedding some light on the first month as a parent and in your baby's life. Sleep is like a drug I imagine.

Oh my GAWWWWD...he is adorable! I cant wait to be a mother...and to feel that love.. My mom always tells me that the feeling you get when you become a mother
is "beautiful" you cant find the words to explain it. But she also told me the funny thing about birth is "when it goes in its like a vienna, but when it comes out 9 months later its like a pineapple" lol....good 'ol mommy advice. heehee.

Ha ha ha, I can't stop laughing over Sam-girl's comment. And admittedly, I'm not so much looking forward to the pineapple-birthin' I'll be doing in September.

Pixie, he is just precious.
