sugar coated crap

I didn't pass my glucola test from a couple of weeks ago. Sitting in the lab that day for an hour was bad enough. Now I have to go back and do the 3 hour test where they will draw my blood once an hour—plus the original finger prick before I drink the glucola—for each of those three hours. That blood drawn 4 times in a three hour period plus massive boredom from sitting there for so long. And...I have to fast for at least 12 hours before hand. FUN.

Good luck with the test - hope that you get a good lab tech!

That does sound really boring. Da'yum I am sorry to hear that. Can you at least bring a good book with you?!

That's horrible. I'm such a failure, I can't even pass a blood test. :) Good luck with that. I went to every single doctor's appointment and test with my wife when she was pregnant. Hopefully, your husband does the same. Reading magazines from 1992 is boring.

fantastagirl—Me too, the last one did a crappy job taking the blood from my arm and left me with a nice big bruise.

naynay—I will be taking reading material, crossword puzzles, possibly my laptop. Anything to pass the time.

tf—I just got the call yesterday and as soon as I was off the phone he offered to go with me. Do I really subject him to three hours of boredom? It wasn't so bad for the two of us when it was just a one hour test, but three. Oh man.

hi im in a link clicking mood and ended up here. on an earlier post you said this about epidurals: I really don't want a giant needle put that close to my spine,

I did not read the comments for the post, but i hope someone mentioned that by the time the doctors are willing to give you the epidural (usually 4-6 cm), you dont care about the needle anymore...

It's been six years, but I don't recall the three hour wait being that bad. Maybe you could walk around the waiting room and randomly ask people whether they think you should cut your hair or how old they were when they lost their virginity. That'd help pass the time. And bluepaintred is absolutely 100% correct. The epidural is totally worth it, and it doesn't hurt that much. Just feels like a little pressure, then woahhhh, all bettah!

Wow... that does sound like fun... Want me to go in for you?

blue—I'm still on the fence with regards to the epi.

leezer—I'm hoping the lab isn't too busy so I get in quickly that day. I'm going to take stuff to do for sure.

dutchy—You'd do that for me?

Oh, it sounds fun. Good luck.

Yuck. Sorry you didn't pass the glucola test. I hope your appointment next week isn't too bad (how horrible is it that I hate my job so much I would rather go in for a three-hour blood draw than sit at my desk? I was actually thinking something along the lines of "Man, I wish I could skip work and go in for a gd test!"). Best of luck, Pixie!

Glucola. I think you made that word up. I've never heard of that before.

12 hours without food? For real?

Good luck.

isabel—Yep...fun.

Popo—Thing is, I won't be taking off work to do it. I will be on my day off. That's what makes it so sucky.

Cookie—Ever been pregnant? You learn all sorts of new words when you're expecting. Glucola is the crap they make you drink (which really doesn't taste bad) before you wait to have them draw your blood. But fasting...not part of my regular vocabulary.

On your day off? That is sucky. I'm sorry. :(

I'm showing my age here, but I didn't have to have that test when I was pregnant. And I only had one ultrasound on a machine that didn't even print out the cute little pictures.

Hope your test results are good, Pixie.

OOOOh! I had to do that test once. It was hell.
