talk about a bummer

Do you know how crappy it is to have a student (who is only 19) die suddenly on the first day of the new quarter? And not only do you have to deal with it, but you also have to share the terrible news with her peers to four different classes that span over the week.

Pretty crappy.

Holly - so very sorry to hear such horrid news. Sorry for you, her peers, and especially her family.

Life really can be so fragile.

Hang in there.

I am sorry you had to tell people about this. That sucks. And it sucks that you knew the person, too. Nineteen. Wow. Nineteen is sooo young. I'm sorry.

I'm so sorry Pixie, for both you and your students. My thought are with you.

Was it the cancer girl?

Sorry for you.

TF—Cancer girl? No, she had a brain tumor that swelled to the size of a grapefruit.

That is horrible! What a nightmare! For you, her peers, friends, family- everybody! And to have to keep essentially "re-living" it...

That's awful, I'm so sorry. A girl from my class died when she was 13, It somehow seems worse when the person is young.

You were probably the best person to tell them. Judging from your blog and all I think you would be good with words and intense situations like that. I'm sorry to hear about a life being cut so short.

I think all of the commenters nailed what I was about to say. But I wanted to let you know I too read this and support your hard task you have to do.

I'm late checking in on this. Gosh, that's horrible. I can't imagine how sad that would be. I'm speechless.

That would be so hard to do. Keeping you and your students in my thoughts...

I am so sorry (also sorry I have not been by in a few days so I am only seeing this terrible news now.)

I will be thinking of you and your students. I am sure you handled the situation with grace.
