but the stuff's been in the store for at least a month now

I know, I know Halloween just ended, but...I've already started my Christmas shopping. I actually started before Halloween even rolled around. And you know what? It feels good. My goal is to be done with the majority of my shopping—like all but the little supplemental things—by Thanksgiving. Which, if any of you are keeping track, is just three weeks away.

Holy crap, just three weeks? We are hosting our very first Thanksgiving dinner at our house this year. Potentially with 16 people. I'm really excited about it, but nervous too. I just don't want to eff it all up. But, I do like to cook, so I'm just going to get into the groove that morning and go with it. I'll get up, watch the Macy's Parade like I do every year and at noon listen to Alice's Restaurant—like we do every year. If I could I'd have a glass of wine, but...well you know how that goes.

Anyhow, that leaves me just three weeks to get my shopping done. I turned in my grades today so I don't have to worry about that this weekend & my prep work for next quarter isn't as daunting as it usually is. So, I'm hoping to get lots of shopping done next week during my break. I might even buy my X-mas cards and make out the list of who to send them to with their addresses.

Have any of you started shopping? Anyone done?

Not done yet, but I'm about half-way finished.

Don't stress about the meal. I'm sure your table will be beautiful. Just don't forget to take the 27 8x10 color glossy pictures with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one. ;)

I started shopping a couple days before Halloween. Not intentionally, of course, but I saw something at the store and thought to myself, "Hey, that'll be perfect for so-and-so!"

I have since bought for several other people, but I haven't bought any what I'll call "real gifts" yet... Just little extra things that I think the people will like.

Blogarita—Haha! That's so funny. I should have them for the dinner itself since both Josh and my family listen to that every year. That would be a hoot!

I always shop in October because I'm terrified of suddenly not having money to later.

After last year and how the mail in this particular city let me down repeatedly- never happened anywhere else before- I'm doubly glad I shop early so it has time to take forever to get here.

Aside from finishing up shopping for the husband, there are a few things I'm delegating him to deal with and that's it. So I'm not technically done, but I'M done. He has to shell out $ for gift cards I need for a few people but that can be done later.

No, I have not started Christmas shopping yet, but I have started dropping hints about what I want!

I have no idea what to get my kids. It seems like they already have everything.

(If anyone is wondering, I would love a Nintendo DS Lite.)

Ugh! I can't even THINK about Christmas this year. I have no idea where we are going to find the money for gifts. It is stressing me out so much I am thinking we won't get anyone anything because I just can't imagine how we will pull it off. But then I feel guilty and think I have to find a way. I wish Christmas wasn't so commercial and made me feel guilty for not buying presents.

I have not started shopping yet. I want to wait until I get back from my trip to worry about that. Then again I always wait until last minute so who am I kidding?

Noooo.... we first have to go through the Dutch festivities of Sinterklaas (similar to Santa Claus)... I've started and finished for that, but that's on Dec 5... and then The Kid's birthday on Dec 16... Finished shopping for that... And THEN I'll do Christmas... I think... Ught...

I did more shopping Saturday. All I have left is a couple more things for Spouse Guys and gifts for my parents and his.

And of course, SG still has to buy gifts for me. :)

I usually wait till the 23rd, but this past weekend, we did all the shoppinig for my daughter. That's a huge chunk done.

My wife and I will also be doing our first Thanksgiving this year, but we also got somehow roped into doing Christmas, too. I think it's because we just got this big place, so now no one else wants to do it.

Hi Pixie!
Yes, I've started. News flash: people get better presents when you finish by Thanksgiving!!!

Good luck on the dinner. I wish you could drink wine, it would help. Maybe let yourself have a half a glass with dinner? I did that once, but at home so no one would arrest me drinking while pregnant. Plus, my husband was the pregnancy police so he stopped me at half a glass.

Good luck!!!!
