be careful what you write

One of my regular blog reads got dooced yesterday. Because of his blog. I'm in total shock about it. He's even had guest posts from his coworkers. So, be careful what you're writing and when you're writing it.

Pretty bad isn't it. I'm changing my name. Come over and help me decide!!

It is really scary! When I read about dooce, I became competely paranoid about it. I hope your blog friend is doing okay though.

Shit. That really sucks. I try to stay anonymous for that very reason, although my employer would have to try pretty hard to fire me since I'm covered under a union contract. I can't for the life of me figure out what he could have blogged to get him fired. He seems like one helluva good guy to me.

(and is it just my shitty motel wireless connection, or does blogger suck ass today??)

I feel all paranoid now, since reading about it.

That has happened so frequently in the past year. I also know someone who lost their job because of blogging. That's why I never use my work computer to do anything with my blog.

Sheesh, that's scary!

A lot of this at the moment. I presume you've heard about Petite?

Chuck has it right. When you are at work...work. Do not use the time that someone pays you for, to blog on the trivial facts and stories of your life. Perform the certain tasks (no matter how mind-numbing) you get paid to do and when you get home, then blog.

Ditto Josh and Chuck - choices and consequences, again.

I will not even admit to "Thomas" being my real name because of what you said, Pixie.

I have a friend who got dooced as well. No "free speech" in reality.

I posted something some time back about the relaxed penalties for female child molesters opposed to males doing the same. What I found shocking was I was contacted by two of the people that I cited as examples. I got really weirded out but started to think, "What I put on my blog is there is for everyone. I just need to think about that before I post." It hasn't affected what I write that much, though. Wish I had got to read from that blog you mentioned.
