Friday night dinner party

Last night we had my Grandma (Gam), Mom, Stepdad and brother over for dinner to celebrate Gam's birthday. It was really nice and everyone seemed to have a good time. We played a game of bocce—which my Mom and I won, had dinner, and then gifts and cake.

This is what we served:
Appetizer:
Layered Bean Dip with Tortilla Chips
Main Course:
Green Salad
Tequila-Citrus Grilled Chicken
Grilled Mushrooms & Vidalia Onions
Roasted Potatoes
Fruit Salad
Dessert: Butter Recipe Yellow Cake with Chocolate Frosting and Coffee

The marinade I used for the chicken was a new recipe and one I would definately use again. I bought this cool tray for the grill which allowed the mushrooms and onions a place to cook without falling through the grate (or me being inside manning two areas at once). This morning I was down 1.4 pounds at WW. That makes me happy. My focus this week is going to be to get more water in daily. I'm just not drinking it as much as I should be. Tomorrow a friend of ours is playing with his band at a nearby park. I'm so looking forward to this. We'll take a couple of chairs and a cooler and go hang out and listen to some good old fashioned rock 'n' roll (edit: Josh just said they're playing bluegrass not r'n'r). Ahhhh...summertime.

I have never heard of 'bocce' but why oh why, at a family gathering were you not playing snatch? if it was only just with scrabble pieces or some other homemade effort?

Melissa—we were outside since I was grilling and bocce is a quick outdoor game. Here's what it's all about.

Chuck—It was really yummy. I love cooking.

Jen—not 7 layers, but similar. Refried beans, salsa, sour cream, cheese and scallions. Easy and delicious.

Mr. Fab—It surely is.

Very similar, just add the shredded lettuce, diced tomato, black olives, mix some taco seasoning into the beans. Voila!
