Another weekend comes to a close

Despite the fact that I woke up this morning and the entire left side of my jaw hurt (I don't know why, but it's not what you think perverts), I had a really good day. We sat around this morning doing our usual Sunday routine—sharing the pot of coffee while Josh played the guitar. After my shower I planted a few more flowers in the garden while Josh changed the oil in my car.

Then, Josh and I went and played tennis with 2 of our friends. We got our asses kicked 9 games to 1. Apparently we need to practice a bit. If it wasn't for missing the serves or hitting them too hard, we'd have been great. We really don't have any problem actually connecting with the ball, just controlling it. It was the first time out this year, so I'm sure that had something to do with it.

Holy Crap! I just got up and went to the door to check out these scratching noises I heard and there was a baby raccoon on our front porch! He was hanging off the lattice about 2 feet above and to the right of our door. Scared the crap out of me. Then he went under the porch. Great. Now we've got that to contend with. But, I digress.

Tonight we went to see our friend play bluegrass at the park. It was just 4 guys, but I swear there were 300 years worth of life shared by the 4 of them up on stage. One of the gentlemen is 80 years old just on his own. They were great. An hour and a half of some down-home style bluegrass. Just a fiddle, a guitar, an upright bass, and a mandolin—along with some harmonizing vocals. There weren't a lot of people there and it was a real laid-back affair. Definately a good time and I'm glad we went out there to show our support.

It's been well over 12 hours since I got up and my jaw is still bothering me a bit. The pain has certainly lessened, but is still hanging around enough to be annoying. If it doesn't improve any more by morning, I'll be calling the doctor. I'm hoping it doesn't come to that.

Better get some traps, you don't want to be living with racoons.

Sounds like you had a great weekend.

You sound like you have TMJ (or is it TJM?) It might go away on its own, but if it doesn't, the doctor will give you this heinous mouth guard thingy to wear at night. Gah.

Bluegrass: I know what you mean. I have a friend who plays bass in a band and they're all old souls. I love listening to them; it makes me wish I could pick a banjo.

Ooh, I was going to say TMJ too. I hope it's not that though.

Don't tell anyone but when I worked at the nursing home we would have this bluegrass group come out once a month. I enjoyed it more than the old folks, I think.

Yeah, when I was looking up jaw pain as a symptom, that's what I came up with. It still hurts a bit this morning and I know I clench my jaw and grind my teeth at night. I'm not going to call the doctor unless it's still bothering my by Wednesday.
