What was I thinking?

I admit it. I have a chronic snooze button habit. Regardless of what time my alarm went off, I'd hit the snooze button at least once...at least. I've had the same alarm clock since like the 6th grade and I know (without a doubt in my mind) that the snooze duration is 9 minutes. I could look at the clock and quickly determine the future times with regard to however many "snoozes" I pushed. I could push it 6 times within one hour. How about just setting the alarm for later?

So, I decided a couple of months ago that I would put the alarm clock across the room. That way I would have to physically get out of bed to turn the alarm off—which would hypothetically keep me from getting back into bed. WRONG. I'm still doing the exact same thing—only now, I have to scuttle across the cold hardwood floor to hit that damn snooze button. What was I thinking?

Tomorrow it goes back on the nightstand.

I have tried, but I still cannot think of a single helpful bit of advice to give you. I'm not a snooze fanatic, myself, so it's hard for me to be sympathetic to this snoozer's disease some of you have...

Mine idea was going to be the "move the clock farther away" cop out, until I got to that point in your post when I was reading it yesterday.

The "9 minutes" thing did crack me up, though, because I used to know my good ol' first alarm clock that well. Then I figured out a trick where if you punch the snooze more than once in a row, it increases the time even more. 2 punches + 18 minutes...and so on...

You better not start doing that, though. You might not ever get up again...

Oh, and if you're really cool, you can hold down the snooze button and toggle the snooze time length with the minute button. Forwards, backwards...it doesn't have to be just 9 minutes...;)
